Rice's Casey NFL Bound...
James Casey will forgo his final two seasons of eligibility with the Owls and enter the NFL Draft. At 24 Casey knows his NFL clock is ticking and if you saw him play this season you know his NFL stock is sky high. Casey is not your usual college sophomore, he's 24 years old he's married. In only two years at Rice he's just 29 hours from his degree. Oh yea, he's also working on a triple major in economics, managerial studies and sports management and he has a 3.84 GPA. Not your usual college jock.
He also has some pro experience to fall back on. James was drafted out of Azle high school by the White Sox in 2003. His pitching career didn't pan out the way he wanted so he sent his resume to Rice two years ago asking for a chance in football. I think the Owls made the right choice in giving him a shot.
Casey is 6-3, 235 pounds. He can play tight end or H-back in the pro's, but if a team wanted him to play linebacker he says he would. His work ethic is second to none, that alone will give him a great shot at succeeding on Sunday's. He's been told he could go anywhere from the 2nd to the 4th round. Once more scouts get a chance to give him the once over at the Combines I wouldn't be surprised if he landed in the 1st.
